This Privacy Policy explains how Novadrive Car Rentals Ltd. ("iNovaDrive", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, safeguards and retains personal information when you use our websites, mobile applications, vehicle-sharing services, marketplace features and related services.
iNovaDrive is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently in accordance with applicable Canadian and British Columbia privacy laws.
1. Privacy Laws That May Apply
iNovaDrive is a private-sector organization operating in British Columbia. Our handling of personal information is subject to applicable privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) ("PIPA").
Depending on the nature of a transaction, the persons involved, or where information is collected, used or disclosed, other Canadian privacy legislation may also apply, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA") where applicable.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for purposes such as operating the Platform, facilitating bookings and transactions, verifying identity and eligibility, maintaining safety, preventing fraud, providing support, processing claims, complying with legal obligations and improving our services.
2.1 Information You Provide
Depending on how you use iNovaDrive, information you provide may include:
- Account Information: Name, username, email address, phone number, account credentials and other information required to create and manage an account.
- Identity Information: Name, date of birth, address and other information reasonably necessary to verify identity and eligibility.
- Driver Verification Information: Driver's licence information, driver's licence photographs, government-issued identification photographs and other information reasonably necessary to verify identity and eligibility to operate a vehicle.
- Vehicle Information: Where a person participates as a Host, information about the vehicle may include vehicle make, model, year, VIN, licence plate, registration information, insurance information and information relevant to the vehicle's eligibility.
- Payment and Payout Information: Billing information and information necessary to process payments or Host payouts. Full payment-card information is handled by our payment processor rather than stored directly by iNovaDrive where applicable.
- Communications: Messages sent through the Platform, customer-support communications, reports, complaints, reviews and information submitted in connection with disputes or incidents.
- Booking Information: Booking dates, locations, vehicle information, pricing, transaction information, cancellation information and related records.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access or use the Platform, certain information may be collected automatically, including:
- Technical and Log Information: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, access times, pages viewed, referring pages and technical information.
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: Information collected through cookies and similar technologies used to operate the Platform, maintain sessions, understand usage and improve functionality.
- Analytics Information: We may use services such as Google Analytics to understand website traffic, usage patterns and platform performance.
- User-Experience Information: We may use Microsoft Clarity or similar tools to understand how users interact with pages, identify technical issues and improve the user experience.
2.3 Vehicle Telematics and Location Information
Some vehicles may contain GPS, telematics, diagnostic or other tracking technology operated by a Host, an insurer or another service provider.
Where iNovaDrive actually receives or processes such information, it may include vehicle location, trip information, distance, or other vehicle-related data. Such information may be used where reasonably necessary for safety, incident investigation, insurance or claims processes, dispute resolution, fraud prevention or platform administration.
Where applicable, Hosts are responsible for providing disclosures required in relation to tracking or telematics technology installed in their vehicles.
3. How We Use Personal Information
We may collect, use and disclose personal information for purposes that are reasonably appropriate in the circumstances, including:

4.1 Sharing Between Platform Users
When a booking is confirmed, iNovaDrive may share information reasonably necessary for the Host and Renter to communicate and complete the booking, such as names, contact information and applicable pickup or return information.
4.2 Service Providers
We may use third-party service providers that process information on our behalf, including providers for:
- Payment Processing: Stripe and related payment services.
- Analytics and User Experience: Google and Microsoft services where enabled.
- Cloud, Hosting and Technical Services: Providers used to host, secure, operate and maintain the Platform.
- Identity or Verification Services: Services used by iNovaDrive to verify driver's licences, government-issued identification or identity information where applicable.
4.3 Insurance, Claims and Legal Purposes
We may disclose relevant information to an insurer, insurance broker, claims professional, law-enforcement agency, government authority, court or other authorized party where reasonably necessary for an accident, damage claim, insurance investigation, legal obligation or lawful request.
4.4 Business Transactions
If iNovaDrive or its assets are involved in a merger, financing, reorganization, acquisition, sale or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred or disclosed as reasonably necessary for that transaction and in accordance with applicable law.
5. Payment Processing
iNovaDrive uses third-party payment processors, including Stripe, to process payments and Host payouts.
iNovaDrive does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers on its own systems where those details are handled directly by the payment processor.
Payment information is handled according to the applicable payment processor's privacy policies, terms and security practices.
6. Security Safeguards
iNovaDrive takes reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect personal information against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or destruction.
Depending on the circumstances, safeguards may include access controls, authentication, encryption, secure hosting practices, logging, monitoring and administrative controls.
No Internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Retention of Personal Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to satisfy legal, regulatory, accounting, insurance, dispute-resolution, security and other legitimate requirements.
Different categories of information may therefore be retained for different periods.
We may retain transaction, tax, accounting, insurance, dispute and other records for periods required or permitted by applicable law or reasonably necessary for legitimate business purposes.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law and reasonable exceptions, individuals may have rights relating to personal information held by iNovaDrive, including the right to:

You may also contact us to request deletion or disposal of personal information where applicable.
Account deletion does not necessarily require immediate deletion of every record. We may retain information where reasonably necessary or legally required for transaction records, tax and accounting obligations, insurance claims, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, legal proceedings or other legitimate purposes.
Where an account has active bookings, unresolved disputes, outstanding balances, insurance matters or other ongoing obligations, certain information may need to be retained until those matters are resolved.
10. Children
iNovaDrive services involving vehicle sharing are intended for individuals who satisfy the applicable age and eligibility requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in circumstances where such collection is prohibited by law.
11. International and Cross-Border Processing
Some service providers used by iNovaDrive may process or store information outside British Columbia or Canada. Where personal information is processed outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed.
